Jackie Taylor, writer, 6 – 13 October, 2018

I arrived at Brisons Veor with plans to continue working on a thematically-linked collection of short stories – editing, sorting, reframing. But something different – and much more valuable – happened. Being alone, being in this amazing space and being away from day-to-day responsibilities was so liberating that I went with the creative flow. I just wrote. I wrote a lot, without thinking too much of form or outcome, and without editing. I walked, I wrote, I walked some more, I looked out of the window and I read. I planned and I plotted. It was a total luxury. Out of this has come renewed energy, excitement and clarity about next steps. Some important decisions around the theme resolved themselves during the week,as if by magic!
