Rae Story, 27 May – 10 June 2023

The main work I wanted to focus on was exploring Anthotypes (photographs
made with plant pigments). Luckily the weather was perfect and mid summer
long days meant that my images got long exposure times in the full sun – very
different to what I can achieve at home. This is time-based media and genuinely
Slow Photography! The process requires lots of little activities and adjustments
which also gave me plenty of time for other photography, drawing and painting
too. Staying with the plant focus I did a series of monoprints of the wild flowers
growing on the bank outside the cottage and created a wild flower mandala of
Cape Cornwall for June this year. The whole experience was such a tonic and
thoroughly nourished my creative practice. I have come home with lots of ideas,
plans and have already sent off proposals to local community groups for projects
that I want to run inspired by my time in Cape Cornwall.
I really appreciate this opportunity, thank you to all at Brison’s Veor.
