The focus was to revisit and follow up from my 2019 project ‘Where do the bees go’ in winter. I wanted to return to the solitary bees’ habitats along the coastal path and inland, at a time where they would be emerging from hibernation or hatching from their eggs. I experimented with squirrelling away cyanotype papers and scrap fabrics in the hedgerows, in the places where bees might nest, just to see what might emerge from the blue. I was creating opportunities for some sort of reaction, haphazard occurrences between the medium and nature, allowing for accidents. And I loved the accidents, the abstractions created, especially when I started working with larger pieces of scrap fabrics, draped through, between or underneath plants.
