Nancy Goodens, 15 – 22 April 2017

My proposal was to try and be less literal in my work, and respond more directly to the colours and textures I experienced at Brisons Veor. The amazing view across the sea from the studio was fabulous, and very inspiring – I set up a table in the window and worked directly, experimenting mostly with fabric collage, stitch, and paint in combination. I also went down to Priests Cove every afternoon to draw in my sketchbook.

I think having a whole week and my own space to work in, enabled me to create with a huge amount of freedom – not having to worry about the outcome as I could do something else next! I came away with some exciting new ways of working in materials I’d never combined before, and more importantly a renewed confidence in my own creative abilities.
