Having two weeks to paint, uninterrupted and without guilt was a wonderful gift. I will forever treasure my two weeks at Brisons Veor. I arrived a little “Stage Struck” at first. I’d actually heaped quite a lot of pressure on myself to achieve something……. and to begin with, all I could produce, was what I always do – what I wanted to find was the new me – the one lurking within me – the art that I’ve never had the time to explore, the still filling my head. The beginning of the second week, surrounded by half painted pictures, I had still not started trying to work through the project inside my head – “Ocean Dancers”. So I went and sat on the beach and gave myself a good talking to – it was now or probably never!!
What happened next was challenging and exciting. I’ve put together a totally new process for me – using layers of paints, pigments, words and energy. My dancers are definitely in the ocean and dancing on my canvas – I’ve made a start. It’s not the finished product but it’s on the way!
I have a planned exhibition November 2026 – so my hope is that by then a new body of work will have emerged – if it doesn’t I’m in trouble!! In the meantime Ocean Dancers 1 – my Brisons Veor painting has been purchased from my studio wall – which was a bit of a surprise!!
