Jill Mecoli, 8 – 15 April

I did not have a planned outcome for the residency. My practice had been on the back burner due to recent illness and multiple personal losses. The time at Brisons Veor was beneficial in terms of having the time and space to reflect on my work and ideas and to gather energy and resources for new work. Being surrounded by nature provided an inspiring and humbling perspective on the importance of the natural world. My current work explores the unintended and dangerous consequences of human behavior on nature and the planet.

There are 6x exhibitions scheduled for 2017 (1x London, 1x USA, 4x East Kent) which will reflect and expand on my time at Brisons Veor. One exhibition in particular has a theme of ‘landscape’. I shall put new work on my website and update my blog.
