JACKI STOREY – PHOTOMEDIA, SCULPTURE, INSTALLATION
During her residency, Jacki gave a demonstration on pinhole photography and camera obscura for year 10 pupils at the Cape School, with a promise to return with a practical pinhole workshop…..
”Jacki gave pupils an insight into the life of a photographer, and shared images of her work. This was the first time a practising photographer has delivered a photographic workshop at Cape Cornwall School. The pupils were in awe of Jacki’s work…..’’ Mrs Beamish, Head of the Creative Arts Faculty.
At Brisons Veor I blacked out and used the ground floor studio as a darkroom for my pinhole photography which worked really well. This was the first time I had developed photographs there and the results were encouraging.
I let the misty weather conditions dictate the mood of the images and concentrated on exploiting soft and misty effects on still life objects indoors.
The pictures turned out better than expected given the light conditions and I feel I have learnt a lot. I also experimented with Perspex sculptural pieces which I will continue to work on.
A meeting with Neil Armstrong, owner of Tremenheere Gardens proved fruitful in the planning and development of my installation Stargazer. I am hopeful that my installation will be incorporated into the impressive sculpture garden there. A box version of this, inspired by the night skies at the Cape, was recently exhibited during the Stroud Arts Festival.
