Recording every day, in paint, pen and photographs, has been really useful, and a challenge for me…I am working on a tryptic.
The cliffs will make a good series of etchings…
(which came to fruition in 2023 when Morna completed 6 etchings that will be shown at Bovey Tracey in June.)
The colours, skies and waves were constantly changing so in pastels had to work fast with broad strokes and thick soft pastels plus using lots of fixative. I have had training as an Earth Scientist so I also found the basaltic and metamorphic rocks interesting especially in the Priest’s Cove.
The etching work will take time but is usually sold in group exhibitions with Oxford Printmakers. Sketches and the (finished) Pastel sketches will be on display at Oxford Artweeks 2023 (May 20th – May 29th) in my studio along with Morna’s work. http://www.sallylevell.com/sallylevellart/sallylevell.html
