As seascapes are a whole new subject for me, and I was only at BV for one week, I had only expected to have time to make a few drawings, take some reference photographs and collect ephemera relevant to the location. As it turned out, I was so captivated by the spectacular turquoise seas, that I spent a lot of my time just watching the light on the sea, and trying to understand the action of the waves. I made several studies using different watercolour techniques in an effort to catch the essence of the rolling seas: these techniques included incorporating wax resist, masking fluid, PVA glue and embedded texture.
